Dr. Cori Burke

My Story

Cori Burke, ND

I have been inspired by natural medicine since I was a toddler. My first doctor that I remember going to see as a child was a homeopath and I was fascinated by the piles of manila envelopes that my mother kept, each filled with tiny sparkling pellets of magical sounding homeopathic remedies.

Growing up, I spent hours in the yard picking bunches of fragrant chocolate mint and pineapple weed to make my own teas and “perfumes”.

As an adolescent I began to have debilitating hemiplegic migraines. Not just a mild headache, I also found my face and arm would go completely numb and I could not come up with simple words to form a sentence. As frightening as this was, I was lucky to find a combination of herbs, amino acids, and homeopathic remedies that could quickly resolve my symptoms if I caught the migraine early enough.

Since that time I have had many profound experiences with homeopathy, herbs, and nutrition that have allowed me to develop a deep trust in the healing power of nature. This ultimately led me to pursue my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon.

While at NUNM I had the opportunity to participate in a prestigious year-long internship in gynecology and primary care with Dr. Kimberly Windstar, as well as a six-month internship in integrative cardiology and pulmonary medicine at the Center for Natural Medicine. My early love of homeopathy guided me to additional training in Classical Homeopathy through the New England School of Homeopathy in Seattle, Washington. Before attending naturopathic medical school I studied herbal medicine at the Herb Pharm in Williams, Oregon and the Philo School of Herbal Energetics in Philo, California.

After graduating from NUNM, I practiced as a primary care provider serving children, adolescents, and families in the Hillsboro, Oregon community. I loved the breadth of primary care and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients and their families.

Early in my career, I began noticing a pattern among some of my patients. Despite seeing multiple specialists, following treatment recommendations, and doing everything they had been told to do, they still weren’t getting better. Many were living with chronic fatigue, widespread pain, dizziness, digestive issues, brain fog, allergies, and complex symptoms that affect multiple body systems at once. Some had accumulated multiple diagnoses without a clear explanation for how everything fit together.

Rather than accepting that these patients would simply continue to struggle, I became determined to better understand what was being missed. I immersed myself in continuing education, reviewed emerging research, attended specialty conferences, and sought mentorship from clinicians working at the forefront of complex chronic illness. The more I learned, the more I recognized patterns involving dysautonomia and POTS, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Lyme disease and chronic infections, mold and biotoxin illness, ME/CFS, and Long COVID.

Over time, my practice naturally evolved as more patients sought me out for these conditions. What began as a desire to understand why certain patients weren’t improving became a passion for helping people navigate complex, multi-system illnesses that are often overlooked, misunderstood, or difficult to diagnose. Today, the majority of my practice focuses on complex chronic illness, and I am grateful to work with patients and families from across Oregon who are searching for answers, validation, and a thoughtful path forward.

While I no longer practice primary care, my years in family medicine continue to shape my approach. I believe in looking at the whole person, understanding how different body systems interact, and partnering with patients to create individualized treatment plans that are both evidence-informed and practical for real life.

With my free time I still love growing and harvesting medicinal herbs to make natural healing remedies. I also enjoy gardening, knitting, hiking the amazing Oregon Cascade Mountains, cooking healthy recipes, and spending time with my husband, our brown tabby cat Frank, and our two big mutts, Percy and Althea.
