Does Health Insurance Cover Naturopathic Medicine?
In Oregon, naturopathic doctors are licensed medical providers, and many insurance plans include coverage for naturopathic medical services. However, insurance benefits vary widely — even between plans offered by the same insurance company.
Because coverage differs from plan to plan, patients are encouraged to verify their own benefits before scheduling care. Patients are financially responsible for any portion of services not covered by insurance.
Is Dr. Burke In-Network with My Insurance?
There have been many recent changes in health insurance plans. As of January 1, 2026 Dr. Cori Burke is a preferred provider with these commercial insurance companies:
- Regence / Anthem / Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)
- HMA (managed by BCBS)
Important Insurance Notes
Dr. Burke is not in-network with:
- Regence Legacy PPO plans
- Blue High Performance Network plans
Dr. Burke is not currently accepting patients with:
- Medicare Advantage plans
- OHP / Medicaid plans
At this time, Dr. Burke is unable to bill any other insurance companies.
Can I Still Schedule if Dr. Burke Is Out-of-Network?
Yes. Patients are welcome to schedule even if Dr. Burke is not in-network with their insurance plan.
To help improve access to care, Dr. Burke offers a 20% time-of-service discount for patients who are not using insurance benefits.
If your insurance includes out-of-network benefits, you may request a superbill after your visit and submit it to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
How to Check Your Insurance Benefits
The best way to verify coverage is to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask for “benefits and eligibility.”
Helpful questions to ask include:
- Does my plan cover visits with a licensed naturopathic doctor?
- Is Dr. Cori Burke in-network with my plan?
- Do I have a deductible for naturopathic services?
- How much of my deductible has been met this year?
- What is my co-pay or co-insurance?
- Do I need a referral or prior authorization?
- Are there visit limits or annual maximums for naturopathic care?
